NEUTRAL, COLD, WARM ... CHOOSE THE COLOR OF LIGHT, WHAT SHOULD I TAKE INTO ACCOUNT?
-
A recurrent question that our clients ask us has to do with color or also called tone or temperature of light. Popular belief revolves around the idea that white light is better because it gives more light, but it is not always so. Let's see why. What is the color of light? In general terms we can say that the color of light (or temperature) is divided into:
-
-
-
Does less Kelvin mean less light? NO, because that factor depends on the power of the lamp, although we can find that there are manufacturers in which there are variations of the lumen depending on the LED tones, with the coldest tones that will have more performance than the warm ones.
So, what is better? First, we must not lose perspective and we must be very clear that lighting affects our mood, biologically activates and extinguishes us. That is, we must first be clear about what environment we want to create.

WARM LIGHT
We say that the light is warm when it is below 3000K. It is a wise choice when we want to create comfortable and relaxed environments. For example, in restaurants you can see that warm tones are chosen because warm tones relax us and we eat more slowly, while the cold light tones accelerate us and make us eat faster. It is a way to spend more time in the establishment to be comfortable and that feeling is what makes us come back. You will notice that in hotels the warm one is also used a lot.
The rooms of the house related to the disconnection, privacy and relaxation are, obviously, the bedroom and living room area. -

NEUTRAL
Neutral light is the most like natural daylight and is the one that least alters colors. It is the most versatile and approximately it is in the 4000K. it is a good option when we do not need to use warm or cold light, such as a dining room, a dressing room, for the general lighting of the kitchen or a study room ...
In stores this color is used for the general lighting of the establishment. We must be able to see the articles well and obtain a good performance of the employees thanks to the light. Something so seemingly "insignificant" can make a difference in the sales of a store.

COLD LIGHT
From approximately 5000K and from shades that tend to bluish (6000ºk and up), it is a tone that we only must use in specific applications rather thought for the professional field than the domestic one since it is a range of tones that we consider are not necessary for the day to day of a home.
This type of tones will be suitable for applications that require it, such as a laboratory or a company that requires this type of light. In general, we recommend using shades not higher than 4000ºk for normal day-to-day domestic applications.

In short, what is better? The best to combine the three types of colors / temperatures of light according to the area and the environment. We must consider what atmosphere we want to create and from there design a lighting plan.
